Important Safety Information

Oral finasteride and oral minoxidil

Boxed warning

Oral minoxidil is a blood pressure medicine, and its FDA-approved tablet labeling carries a boxed warning: it can cause serious side effects, including fluid around the heart (pericardial effusion) that can progress to cardiac tamponade, and it can worsen chest pain (angina). Oral minoxidil is not FDA-approved for hair loss. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must not take or handle finasteride; it can cause abnormalities of a male baby's genitals.

Who should not use it

Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, children, anyone allergic to finasteride, minoxidil or any ingredient in the product, and anyone with pheochromocytoma. Tell your provider if you have heart disease, chest pain, a recent heart attack, low blood pressure, or kidney or liver problems, and about every medicine you take, especially blood pressure medicines.

Serious side effects

Minoxidil: fluid around the heart, fast or irregular heartbeat, chest pain, swelling of the hands, feet or face, rapid weight gain, shortness of breath, and dizziness or fainting from low blood pressure. Get medical help right away for chest pain, trouble breathing or fainting.

Finasteride: sexual side effects (lower sex drive, erection or ejaculation problems) that in some people continued after stopping, depression and thoughts of suicide, breast tenderness, enlargement or lumps (male breast cancer has been reported), testicular pain and allergic reactions. Tell your provider right away about mood changes, thoughts of self-harm, or any breast change.

Common side effects

Unwanted hair growth on the face or body, headache, mild swelling, faster heartbeat and lightheadedness.

Lab tests

Finasteride lowers PSA blood test results; tell any provider checking your PSA that you take it. Biotin at this dose can cause falsely high or low results on some lab tests, including heart (troponin) and thyroid tests; tell your provider and the lab that you take biotin.

Compounded medications

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality.

About compounded medications

Compounded medications are prepared by a state-licensed pharmacy for an individual patient under a valid prescription when a licensed provider determines a compounded product is medically appropriate. They are not generic versions of any brand-name drug, and results from clinical studies of FDA-approved products do not apply to compounded products.

Injection-site reactions

Common side effects of injectable medications include redness, pain or swelling where you inject. Contact your provider about any side effect that bothers you or does not go away.

Report side effects to your provider through your patient portal, or to the FDA at www.fda.gov/medwatch or 1-800-FDA-1088. All safety information

Common questions See all FAQs

How does pricing work?

Every product shows its price upfront, including your provider visit, the medication and shipping. There are no membership fees. A 3-month supply costs less per month than monthly.

How do I get a prescription?

Choose a product and complete a short online visit. Your visit is reviewed by a healthcare provider from Beluga Health, our licensed medical provider network, who is licensed in your state. A prescription is issued only if the provider decides treatment is appropriate for you. If you are not approved, you are not charged for the medication. In some states, the law requires your provider to meet with you by live video or audio before prescribing. If you live in one of these states, you'll schedule that visit during your online visit.

Are compounded medications FDA-approved?

No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality. They are prepared by state-licensed pharmacies under a valid prescription, and they are not generic versions of brand-name drugs such as Wegovy® or Zepbound®. Each product page states whether it is compounded or FDA-approved.

Does Limitless Health make or compound my medication?

No. Limitless Health does not manufacture, compound or dispense medications, and product images on this site are unbranded illustrations only. Compounded medications are prepared and dispensed by a state-licensed pharmacy, which is named on your prescription label. The medication you receive will carry that pharmacy's label.

Can I message a provider after I start?

Yes. Your patient portal includes provider messaging, order tracking and follow-up visits at no extra cost.

Where do you offer service?

See our service area page for the full list of states. Availability is confirmed during your online visit based on your shipping state.

What if I have a medical emergency?

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Limitless Health does not provide emergency care.
